NUMERICAL GAMES
Lotto
Lotto is a traditional lottery game that purportedly originated about 500 years ago. Historically, Lotto has
been one of our most successful games. However, in recent years as new games have been introduced Lotto’s
popularity has decreased.
The Lotto game is based on the drawing of six numbers from a drawing machine that contains 49 numbers ranging from one to 49. The six numbers drawn from the drawing machine determine the winners. Lotto drawings are broadcast on television and radio and take place twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The results are also announced through a dedicated telephone line, through Teletext and via the corporate website.
Proto
The Proto game is included on the tickets of all our games, other than Kino, Stihima, Super 3 and Extra 5, or may be played separately. The Proto game is based on the drawing of a seven-digit number from a drawing machine that contains seven series of numbers from zero to nine, each digit being drawn from one of the seven series of numbers. The seven-digit number drawn from the drawing machine determines the winners. On the basis of the numbers drawn, winners are classified into six categories according to the number of digits they matched and whether they matched the correct sequence.
Joker
Joker is a numerical lottery game. We introduced the game in 1997 in response to declines in revenue from
Lotto.
The Joker game is based on the drawing of five numbers out of 45 numbers and the drawing of one number out of 20 numbers. The five plus one numbers drawn determine the winners. Joker drawings are broadcast on television and radio and take place twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. The results are also announced through a dedicated telephone line, through Teletext and via the corporate website.
Super 3
Super 3 was introduced on November 25, 2002. Super 3 is a numerical fixed odds lottery game in which
winning depends on the prediction of one to three numbers out of a three digit number drawn three times a day.
In the Super 3 game, winning depends upon the prediction of at least one digit from the three-digit number drawn. Drawings for the three-digit number are conducted electronically by an integrated
encryption system generating numbers. Prior to April 7, 2003, this three-digit number was drawn twice a day,
since that time it is drawn three times a day (at 2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.). Super 3 drawings are
broadcast on television and radio. The results are also announced through a dedicated telephone line, through Teletext and via the corporate website.
Extra 5
Extra 5 was introduced on November 25, 2002. The Extra 5 game is a numerical fixed odds lottery game in which winning depends on the prediction of five numbers out of 35 numbers ranging from 1 up to and including 35. The drawing for the five numbers is conducted electronically using an integrated encryption system generating numbers. The drawings take place every day and are broadcast on television. The results are also announced through a dedicated telephone line, through Teletext and via the corporate website.
Kino
The Kino game is based on draws that take place every five minutes during playing hours. Kino is played for seven hours daily, which means that there are 86 draws per day. For each draw, 20 numbers are drawn out of a total of 80 numbers using an electronic integrated encryption system that generates numbers. The players may select among 12 different types of Kino games; each type is differentiated according to the amount of correct numbers each player must select in order to be classified in the top winning category of that type of Kino game.
SPORTS BETTING GAMES
Propo
The Propo game is a sports betting game in which winning depends on correctly predicting the results of a series of 13 football matches plus an additional football match marked "Super 13." On the basis of the number of correct predictions of the results of football matches, winners are classified into
categories as follows: the special category 13+1 includes winners who have correctly predicted the results of the 13 football matches and the additional football match marked "Super 13;" category one includes winners who have correctly predicted the results of 13 football matches; category two includes winners who have correctly predicted the results of 12 football matches; and category three includes winners who have correctly predicted the results of 11 football matches.
Propo-goal
The Propo-goal game is a game in which winning depends on correctly predicting the football matches (domestic and foreign) with the highest number of goals. Players must predict correctly the eight football matches out of 30 that will have the greatest number of goals. The football matches that make up the ticket of each Propo-goal game are selected by us upon the recommendation of the committee that picks matches for use in Propo games.
Stihima
Stihima was introduced in 2000. It is currently one of OPAP's most successful games. In 2004, Stihima
accounted for 50.8% of €3.2 billion in revenues from games.
The Stihima game is a fixed odds betting game (including absolute fixed odds (where payouts are fixed and known to players at the time they wager) and variable fixed odds (where payouts change during the wagering period in accordance with amounts wagered and are fixed and known to players only after the end of the wagering period)) in which winning depends on correctly guessing the results of sports events,
and other events that by their nature allow for wagering. At present, only absolute fixed odds sports betting games are operated. Existing absolute fixed odds games include wagering on football games, basketball games, Formula One and international tennis. Stihima's most important sports events include the UEFA Champions League, the European Football Championships, the English League season and the Italian, Spanish and German leagues seasons. OPAP believes that the Stihima game includes more games per ticket than in other countries where games similar to Stihima are also played. The company currently does not offer any non-sporting event wagering. In addition, Greek football and basketball games, or any other sporting or non-sporting events organized by Greek organizations, are currently not included in the Stihima games. Players must predict the correct results of a varying number of events (from one to 10, but typically four) among a range of events set
by each program (which may be up to 216 events). The results are also announced through a dedicated
telephone line, through Teletext and via the corporate website.
Stihima is played daily. The minimum wagering amount for each Stihima ticket is €0.30. The maximum
wagering amount for a single Stihima ticket is approximately €29,350. Unlike some other countries where games similar to Stihima are also played, in OPAP's Stihima game there is no maximum number of tickets that may be purchased by any one player.
The maximum jackpot from a single Stihima ticket may not exceed €0.7 million. The target payout for
Stihima is 60.0% of the total amounts wagered on an annual basis although, because Stihima is a fixed odds
game, the payout will vary for any given game.
